Latest pics plus tally ho!!

Garage trusses are up today....................

Looking more like a proper garage now (well a bit!)

Tally Ho?.................

Not really Tally Ho! This was the view from our temporary bedroom balcony (AKA scaffolding) last Saturday evening. It was part of the Hawick common ridings which takes place every year. (Google it if you're interested.) There were about 120 horses and riders. They use the field opposite what will be our house once a year during the Denholm Ride-out. Hopefully we will be on the lawn with a glass of wine watching this next year.

Upstairs Downstairs!

Roof is rainproof - and it's needed to be :(  - A week of lovely weather followed by two days of rain. Ready for slates soon :)

Upstairs.... It was exciting to be able to go upstairs (or rather, up a ladder!) last night..........

Bill kept saying 'Watch where you're walking' I think he was secretly hoping ..........

Downstairs.....
Looking towards the front from the lounge with an enticing view of the toolstore and portaloo.
We'll try to keep the lounge a bit tidier when we move in!

Dormers are in (nearly)

Our neighbour-to-be (Bill) took this. We now know how the trusses got up there!

The pictures below show the dormers, where the upstairs windows will be...................
Looks as if the house is lit up doesn't it? Sun was setting behind the field at the back.

Boring one ..................

Now you see it, now you don't

Just read previous post. We said 'more over the weekend...' but didn't say which weekend!!
Never mind, better late than never.

Earlier this week: looking more like a real house (well a bit!)

Bill says I have to post this - 'A horse is a horse of course of course ......'

I think this will be the last picture for a while where we can see the house without scaffolding :(

Boring or what????

Now...... see if you can guess what the weather's been like here for the last few days:

Nice place for a water feature? Good job there's another drain to put in yet.
The roof you can see is next door, our roof trusses should be delivered tomorrow.

It's dry today (but cold and windy) so hope water drains away ( springtime in the Borders eh? )

More scaffolding and water........................

Pleasant surprise!

Last Wedenesday we went to site to look how the drains were getting along (interesting lives we lead).
Delighted to find joiners were there!
This is the side of the lounge. The openings in the woodwork, from left to right will be:
  • Doors to back garden. The digger will not be a feature :)
  • Two small windows to side.
Notice the attractive drains.

Went back on Thursday:

Me looking through sunroom window:

And at back of sunroom:

And looking through kitchen window:

Going into utility room:
More drains and Bill's car and shadow!

More over the weekend :) .............

Can you see Bill (above) and Carol (below x 2)?
(Not waving but drowning? - just kidding!)

This is the pathway opposite the house:

And just around the corner from the path. (White flowers either side are wild garlic. White shapes in background are sheep and lambs (der) ):

There will be a forced march down here when you next visit!

Next stage in blocking up

Pale grey blocks will be underground, level with garden. Bricks on top will be finished floor level once concrete is in.

Lounge wall. Lounge will be same size as Boundary Drive but a bit wider and with a bay window. You can see gateposts and shared courtyard wall in background.

Front looking towards side.

Stage one of housebuild - the stakeout etc.

Hi
At last the house was staked out on 28th March!!!  :)

All the family went up to see it on 30th. Couldn't believe that the diggers were in already and foundations were dug out. Concrete was due within the hour!
Exciting - as Bill said 'Oh S----'.

We're going to see the concrete in a few minutes with Paul, Vicky and Riley. Good way to spend a sunny Sunday morning in Hawick eh? Watching concrete dry!
